On-the-fly compression in FTPSBlackbox - SecureBlackbox®
FTPSBlackbox supports on-the-fly compression of data during transfer, so called MODE Z.
In this mode ZLib is used to compress files as they are transferred.
Note, that compression is applicable only to the transfer itself - when you upload the file to the server with help of MODE Z compression, this file be stored on the server in original form, not in compressed one (unless the server is configured to somehow process the data). The same applies to downloads.
Data compression reduces the size of the transfer, lowers network load and increases security (when SSL/TLS is used). Also compression lets you perform data exchange faster, thus improving performance and user experience (in end-user applications).
Compression is also built into newer versions of TLS protocol and is supported by SSL/TLS components of SecureBlackbox on that level as well.
