We will have time to deal with this stuff only after we release new versions of CallbackDisk and SolFS OS Edition, and this will happen probably only by christmas.

Our customer has been busy with other issues, so we've only managed to deploy several hundred clients for now - which works well (with us)...

While we now have time, I'm eager to start trying out your new beta code if possible - please let me know if any progress or availability... Thanks!

Update - I'm averaging 1500 connections with a few bursts at 3600 connected devices.

Not sure why, but I'm noticing a lot of disconnecting devices - I'm guessing due to cell tower issues since these devices are all on 3G using the telco's corporate VPN...

So Netstat is showing a lot of devices in a CLOSE_WAIT state which I don't normally see - so I can't yet tell whether it's my code or just a consequence of so many devices fighting for 3G connections - not sure how the CLOSE_WAIT state arises...

The server (service) is peaking at about 240MB of memory usage - so this is pretty good - even when hitting the 3600 devices, they were sending data sporadically every few seconds - so the actual CPU load isn't much...

All in all, looking good - I'm still waiting to see what happens when the rest of the total compliment of 6500+ devices come on line!!

Thank you for letting me know. We are busy with SecureBlackbox 9 release, and in parallel we do some background job on updating MsgConnect. Maybe we will be able to deliver IOCP-based server somewhere in summer.

Just a quick update - we're now hosting approx 9,500 windows mobile devices.

We're using a small linux utility called balance on a box to divide the incoming connections across two instances of our server running msgconnect (on same physical box).

Our client is wanting to add a further 6,000 devices to this, so I will probably need to run another couple instances to spread the load.

Do you have a timeline or beta access to your IOCP version anytime soon?

Further update, MessageConnect has now sent in excess of 12 million messages since this post first started. There are now 5 instances of the MessageConnect server running on same physical box. Same linux load balancer in front of it. Has been running 24/7 for over 6 months now in 64 bit mode. Now total of 10,000 devices connected including several admin users broadcasting messages to the devices...

Just thought I'd update you on this project - now close to 30 million transactions across those same 5 x64 instances. Hasn't skipped a beat. No lost messages, no memory leaks - all good....

By the way, these instances were running as console apps. Only recently converted to run as a service - we had no need previously as server was never rebooted and the apps never crashed, although they were updated once to cater for some new message types.

We're at 12,000 devices now and by about March 2013 we'll get to 30,000+ devices, and probably still running a single box server, probably upwards of 10 instances though.

Pretty good for a threaded server eh? And who says Windows crashes every 5 minutes.... It's now been close to a year without so much as a hiccup...
