To protect content of the storage from unauthorized access you can encrypt the storage with password. It is simplest way. In addition to encryption you can hide the content of the storage by linking it into your EXE file. To do this you have to implement callback mode for the storage.

***Current code to access the video file***

string _strFileName = "20051210-w50s.flv";

String _strFile = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(Application.ExecutablePath) + @"\Videos\" + _strFileName;
String _strSWFFile = _strPlayerPath;

if (_strFileName.Contains(".swf") == true)
{
axShockwaveFlash1.Movie = _strFile;
axShockwaveFlash1.Play();
}

Hello

The function which translate the filename in the SolFS storage to system filename (ConvertFileNameToSystem) is ready now and will be available in the next build today or tomorrow. As a quick workaround you can use next code:

string mountingPoint = "";
Storage.GetMountingPoint(0, ref mountingPoint);
string sysFileName = @"\\.\" + mountingPoint + @"\1.swf";

sysFileName now is fully qualified filename which you can use in the same way as _strFile in your code.

Thanks Alexander.

The demo worked and SolFS fits just right for our requirements.. Thanks a lot for the help. Looking forward to working with your organization.

Oh and another thing- the encryption of the storage is not available in the demo version right?

Reference your quote- "To do this you have to implement callback mode for the storage."

I tried understanding call Back method on your website but could not find any related to SolFS callback storage.

Is it the same as the CallBack Filesystem, which is one of your products?

Also, I wanted to try the password encryption. Is that possible in the downloaded OS Edition?

Hello Richa.

Your version of SolFS is fully functional, only the trial key expires in usually two month. You can definitely use storage encryption with trial key. Describe me please how you create the storage and fill it with files and I give you an explanation how to encrypt it.

The CallBack mode is basically described here:

To create/open a storage through code:
****************************************************
m_Storage = new SolFSStorage();
if (File.Exists("D:/MyDrive/SolFS_Test_OS_04.st"))
{
try
{
m_Storage.FileName = "D:/MyDrive/SolFS_Test_OS_04.st";
m_Storage.Open(StorageOpenMode.somOpenExisting);
}
catch (Exception e)
{
MessageBox.Show(e.Message);
}
}
else
{
m_Storage.Dispose();
m_Storage = new SolFSStorage("D:/MyDrive/SolFS_Test_OS_04.st", true, 4096, false, false, '\\', "");
}
****************************************************

Currently I am copying the files into the Storage using the SolFS Explorer(though in actual, i need to do it through code).

Problem:
========
I need to password protect/encrypt the storage before giving it with my application so that the .st file cannot be opened using SolFS Explorer(which is currently happening).

What if I forget the password I supplied during the drive encryption? Is there a backdoor support?
