why no need for passwd to mount a storage?

Hello All,

I created a storagefile with passwd "1234567890" using SolFSExplorer. But I found that I can use the sample codes provided by SolFSDrv to mount the storagefile with no need to input any passwd. While, when I use my code to open the storage and addmountingpoint(X:) without calling StorageSetPassword(), I can see X:, but when I try to access X:, it complains "the device is not ready". Could you tell me why? Thanks.

Hello,

It's correct behavior. You can't access to storage until the correct password is entered.

The question is why I need no passwd when I use the simpleMount codes provided by SolFSDrv. No prompt asks me to input passwd when simpleMount mounts my storage enctyped with passwd "1234567890". After adding mounting point, I can access it normally.

Please post the sample storage here.

After re-reading your posts I am confused.
First you wrote "when I try to access X:, it complains "the device is not ready"."
Next, you wrote "After adding mounting point, I can access it normally."

Please explain what you meant by these two contradictory statements.

Sincerely yours

OK. I bring up 2 questions here:
1. If I use the sample codes (simpleMount) provided by SolFSDrv, I can mount it with no passwd , and after adding mountingpoint to it, I can access it normally. Here I'm confused why no need for passwd? You see, my storage is enctyped with passwd "1234567890".
2. I write the mount code by myself, when I use my codes to mount the storage without calling API StorageSetPasswd(), after adding mountingpoint(X:) to it, I can see X:, but It complains "the device is not ready" when I try to access it. This means I do need input passwd, right?

Thanks.

No, I see nothing as there's no storage to see.
