Eugene,
which demo client application did you use?
how did you modify the port number?
What did your log files show.

fyi, I downloaded and trie the latest version of SecureBlackBox.net and am still getting the same error.

Thank you,
-Chris.

Nothing special - I took the VB.NET SimpleSFTPDemo and have changed the port number. That's all. The log shows no problem and connection is closed due to incorrect password (which is normal as we don't have the password). What latest version did you try? Did you try SBB 6 beta?

Sincerely yours

I used version:
SecureBlackbox - version 5.2.124 - Released October 9, 2007

I'll try SBB 6 beta if that is what you are using...

Version 6 requires a different license key. You will find yours in My Control Center panel.

I have a similar problem connecting to ftp.availity.com, and have taken all the steps mentioned in this thread. Was there a resolution with this issue?

My errors have ranged from (before changing based on the knowledgebase article posted above) SFTP connection failed : Connection lost (error code is 0)
To: SFTP error 7 (from the onerror)
SFTP connection failed: Wrong socket state 0 in Send(error code is 96258)

Please, clarify your situation - which demo you are using, SBB version, edition and so. Or you are using the same VB.NET demo? And also, to which port you are connecting on ftp.availity.com?

96258 (0x17802 in HEX) is the socket error which means "connection was lost". This means that the server has forcefully closed connection. If the problem happened during file transfer, this means that the server doesn't correctly process some of the following options:

PipelineLength (set to 1 to disable pipelining)
AutoAdjustTransferBlock (set to false in order to change the next options)
DownloadBlockSize
UploadBlockSize
SFTPBufferSize

It seems that the server doesn't support pipelining.

What do I set the downloadblocksize, uploadblocksize & sftpbuffersize to?
These errors are not happening during file transfer. The errors above are during the .Open() call.
I will try the pipeline length and repost.
<edit> changing the pipelinelegth and autoadjust resulted in the same error

I misread the message, sorry.
I have connected to the server fine up to authentication step (which I couldn't pass due to lacking login info).

If you have problem getting to the authentication step, then you need to adjust various settings related to some algorithm.

If your problem happens after authentication is done, then we need login/password details to continue. We will move this question to HelpDesk then where you can provide login info.
