Hi,

Where can I find source of Distributed Cryptography Java applet? "...\EldoS\SecureBlackbox.NET 12\Extra\DCModules\Readme.Java.txt" claims that it should be in this directory, but there are only compiled jars.

Thank you for contacting us.

Source code is available for customers who have a license for Distributed Cryptography add-on and can be downloaded from My Control Center ( https://eldos.com/cc/ ).

I have the license for SecureBlackbox 12 .NET Professional package. Is it included there?

Distributed Cryptography add-on is not included into Professional package, it should be purchased separately.

Thanks. I see it now. The price difference was way too high for us.

Also, since Java applets will eventually be disabled in major browsers, I wonder if I can somehow use Web Cryptography API (JavaScript) instead, together with SecureBlackbox. Have you done any research regarding this emerging standard?

Piotr,

Indeed we are looking into WebCrypto API and doing some work in this direction, but I'm afraid this standard is a bit too raw at the moment. Particularly, they provide no way to access locally stored certificates, which is vital for DC. Hopefully this situation will change soon, and then we'll hopefully be able to come up with an appropriate solution.

In the mean time, you can also use a different in-browser technology for DC purposes, instead of Java applets. Silverlight and Flash are two of the options.

Good to know about WebCrypto.

One, last question - with the license I already have, can I formally use DC with standard Java applet shipped with SecureBlackbox (without changing the applet code)? Technically, the included samples work OK, as far as I see.

Piotr,

I am afraid that you can't, sorry. Although the samples might technically work for you, the DC module remains in 'evaluation mode' and will stop working after certain number of invocations.

Is there a way to purchase DC add-on separately now, when I already bought SecureBlackbox 12 .NET Professional package without it?

Yes, you can purchase DC separately in addition to your Professional license. I've created a Helpdesk ticket for you so that we could discuss the details with you in private.
