I'm trying to download a file from our WS_FTP server and get the error "Control channel transfer error". If I trap the error and close the file data stream i see that the file is actually been successfully downloaded. Is there a specific setting I can use to suppress or resolve this message unless the download actually fails? Log snippet follows:

Using SecureBlackBox version Pre-release 5.2.0.113 (5.2.0.112 has the same result). Any help anyone has to offer would be appreciated.

A similar issue has been fixed several days ago. I suggest you to wait for the 5.2.114 build (which is planned to be available later today or tomorrow) and check if the problem is solved.

I have loaded build 5.2.114 and the error still occurs.

We're trying to decide whether or not to purchase the suite. Do you believe, based on past experience, that this issue with connecting to WS_FTP servers will be resolved in the near future?

Everything depends on whether this particular problem is reproducible. I am moving the original request to HelpDesk in order to not forget about it (we have plenty of work these days) and test it today or tomorrow. If the problem can be reproduced, it will be fixed almost immediately. If no, we will need to work closer with you in order to reproduce the issue.

Sincerely yours

We've tested the latest build (115) and we still can't seem to escape the control channel transfer error when we try to connect to any WS_FTP server using FTP. Can we set up a test connection to our WS_FTP server for you so you can attempt to reproduce the error? Also, do you think it's possible this error is being caused by the throttle on our trial version key?

<edit>
I loaded and tested the sample FTP client that installs with SecureBlackBox and it does not generate the above error. I configured the FTP client identically, including events, except that my code uses a local variable for the FTP client and the sample uses a global variable. Could this be causing the control channel error?

No, this can't be the reason. The actual reason can be that you have either a copy of older assemblies in your project's binary folder, or your project references older assemblies that are still in the GAC.

I am having a very similar problem. I am using FTPS version 5.2.117. My program is connecting to a WS_FTP server and attempting to transfer several files. My first file transfers then the component locks. A few moments later I get "Control channel transfer error". Has there been a solution found for this problem

Everybody, please check that you are actually using the 5.2.117 and not some old version. The posts in the helpdesk show that old assemblies are actually loaded in the application.
