Does SecureBlackbox support Counter cipher mode?

We have a new requirement from one of our counterparties. They will stop support of cbc mode and will only accept ctr mode. We encrypt files and push via SFTP to the counterparty.

We currently use 3DES Symmetrical Algorithm, by specifying:

pgpWriter.SymmetricKeyAlgorithm = SBPGPConstants.Unit.SB_PGP_ALGORITHM_SK_3DES;

I cannot find how to set ctr mode using 3DES or others, such as AES, etc..

Please advise.

thanks,

Hi Dave,

Thank you for contacting us.

CTR mode is only applicable for SSH/SFTP part of your environment. OpenPGP does not support CTR algorithms.

SecureBlackbox does support CTR algorithms for SSH/SFTP. Just in case, I am providing the constants below, yet those algorithms are enabled by default in client components:

SSH_EA_AES128_CTR
SSH_EA_AES192_CTR
SSH_EA_AES256_CTR
SSH_EA_3DES_CTR
SSH_EA_BLOWFISH_CTR
SSH_EA_TWOFISH128_CTR
SSH_EA_TWOFISH192_CTR
SSH_EA_TWOFISH256_CTR
SSH_EA_SERPENT128_CTR
SSH_EA_SERPENT192_CTR
SSH_EA_SERPENT256_CTR
SSH_EA_IDEA_CTR
SSH_EA_CAST128_CTR

The algorithms can be enabled/disabled through the EncryptionAlgorithms property of your SSH or SFTP component.

Cheers,

Ken
