Hi Ken,

I greatly appreciate your help on another question regarding the same chat demos:

Everything works great if I connect using the localhost IP (, port 4567) running both client and server on the same machine.

However, when I run client and server programs on different machine and connect them using the real IP address, I got error saying "Unable to connect to host - no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it".

What do I need to do to correct this? I check the firewall and everything is turned off.

Thanks again,

The server sample is configured to listen only on localhost. Please open MainServerWnd.cs, find buttonListening_Click() method and change the code accordingly to listen on other or all interfaces. I am not sure whether you can pass "" to GetHostByName in this situation or you would need to change more code.

Note that SecureBlackbox is not for networking, but for security and you will be modifying the code that uses .NET socket classes.

Sincerely yours
Eugene Mayevski
