Hi,
after upgrading to v. 12 I've a problem with SMTP.login receiving a 535 authentication failed-error. This only with a certain server, otherones work just fine. I'm also trying with your SMTClientDemo-project. Where there some changes to some option? Sending from Outlook works just fine. What else could I try?
best regards
Toni Santa

Thank you for contacting us.

Please try to disable SASL mechanisms one by one and check if this helps. This may be done using TElSMTPClient.SASLMechanism property. DIGEST-MD5, CRAM-MD5 and NTLM are enabled by default.

Hi, many thanks for your help.
with
smtp.SASLMechanism['DIGEST-MD5'] := false;
I can connect (login) without problems.
Would it be right to disable all SASLMechanisms if a check of smtp.ExtensionSASLLoginSupported returns false?

Was this changed in v. 12?

Would it be right to disable all SASLMechanisms by default and enable only the one contained in the ExtSASLMechanisms[i]? If so, why not doing this just in the componenet?

best regards
Toni

In fact SASL mechanisms were disabled before the 12th version. Also we changed authentication mechanism selection prccedure to use the most secure one from the list of supported. In your case DIGEST-MD5 is chosen, but authentication fails for some reason. If server accessible from outside? We can try to investigate the problem.

Yes, the server is accessible from outside, but it is a secure SSL - port 465 server (italian PEC-provider), address mail.postacert.it.net. It is accessible only throught user and password. I don't have an account on this server, so I'll have to ask my customer if he allows me to give you user and pwd. Do you need that or can you test it without the credentials?
Just to inform you: the smtp.ExtensionSASLLoginSupported turns false.

The property should be checked after authentication is done as its value is set during this process.

Yes we need login credentials in order to localize the problem.
