First of all i want to say, i did use the search function and read many topics but none have helped so far.

We have a problem trying to establish a connection with a customer using sftp.

Situation:
Customer wants to use SFTP With a public/private key + a passphrase on this key.

Customer CAN connect using NO key. Customer fails to connect using a key + passphrase.

ERROR LOG:
2:16:19 PM Authentication type [16] failed
2:16:19 PM Error 114
2:16:19 PM sftp connection failed with message [Connection lost (error code is 10058)]
2:16:19 PM if you have ensured that all connection parameters are correct........

Looking up the error code told me this might be a password related problem. So i let the customer test his password on another sftp client. THIS WORKS with no problems.

Extra information:
Type of key(what the customer told me, since they dont want to give me their key for testing) = RSA 256bit

Server software = Sun_SSH_1.1.6

Could you please give me a hint or a step in the right direction?

Much love

Thank you for contacting us.

Do I understand right that client's key is encrypted? Or you mean password authentication?

Do you mean that you provide a password for a server or a password to decrypt a client's key? What you mean by "NO key"?

Sorry that i was unclear.

What i ment was, the customer wants to connect with a key that is encrypted.

The customer can connect using a username + password (not using a key). but not with a key that is encrypted

Most likely the key is not loaded correctly. Please try to load it using TElSSHKey.LoadPrivateKey and check its return code. It should be 0 if succeed.

Just a check - does the customer set the username as well (besides the key and the password for a key)?

Also please check the error code returned by the LoadPrivateKey method, as Vsevolod suggested.

Sincerely yours

thanks for the replies.

I had the customer test this.

1) yes he does include a username to login with.

2) the load key value returns 3337

i tried to google the error code but i was unsuccessful

And did you try looking into SecureBlackbox documentation for the error code?

A link to what exactly do you mean? The help file is local on your computer.
