Hello,

I assume that I can use ElSimpleFTPSClient.Send for updating only small parts of existing files. But what do I do if the file needs to become smaller? I would need to seek to a specfic position and then truncate the file on the server. Is that possible?

Would this work with all SSH servers?

Thanks.

Are you talking about FTPS or SFTP?

I think usage of these abbreviations varies, but I am using whatever the ElSimpleFTPSClient implements.

The usage of these abbreviations is strictly defined. FTPS runs over SSL, while SFTP is part of SSH family of protocols.

As for FTP(S), it doesn't work well as a remote file system protocol, and I would say it's tricky to write something to the middle of the file. Maybe some servers support this, but the RFC 959 (still alive) defines only APPEND command, which can't be used for writing to the middle of the file.

SFTP standart allows file truncation.
With SBB you could do it with SetAttributes method, using Size field of ElSFTPAttributes (also don't forget to add it to IncludedAttributes).

But I don't sure, if it should work on all servers.
