Hi,

We are using SecureBlackBox .NET to sign PDF documents. As a part of this process we include a timestamp using the TElHTTPTSPClient class.

We are currently using VeriSign certificates and would therefore prefer also to use their timestamp server located at http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll.

However, when using this server we receive "error 83973" (SB_TSP_ERROR_WRONG_DATA). Using other timestamp servers such as http://adobe-timestamp.geotrust.com/tsa works perfectly fine.

I've been reading various posts on this forum and from what I can gather the issue may be that VeriSign's server returns the wrong Content-Type ("application/timestamp-query" rather then "application/timestamp-reply").

Can you confirm that this is the issue? And if so, is there a workaround, which allows us to ignore the wrong Content-Type?

Best regards
Niels

Thank you for contacting us.

The problem is that the server returns "error handling request, status = 0x9300" string instead of TSP reply. Please contact this server administrator to clarify what does this code mean.

http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll is an URL for authenticode timestamps, not for RFC 3161 (TSP). I don't think they handle TSP requests on this URL. You need to check this with Verisign.

Thanks for the quick reply.

We'll contact VeriSign to try and get a working TSP address.
