Do I understand you right that t_POP3.Close(false) didn't help?

sorry we were having troubles with our proxy and internet here, so i couldn't edit/delete the answer before.

Code
      t_POP3.Close(false);

That seemed to help.

What is the difference? The Parameter is called silent, but what does it do?

When its set to 'true' the component simply drops the connection, but when its set to 'false' the components does a complex shutdown procedure. For POP3 protocol this procedure includes sending QUIT command that commits all your changes on server. DELE command sent by TElPOP3Client.DeleteMessage method just marks a message for deletion on shutdown.
