We are developing an application using Delphi 7 and Rapware’s EasyMAPI components.

The application automatically logs onto an Exchange server, retrieves mail from the inbox and parses the attachments.

The attachments are encrypted.

We have no problems manually using Outlook to decrypt received mails, so all is working regarding signatures and keys, etc.

EasyMAPI does not know/care about encryption, so therefore we are currently evaluating the Blackbox VCL toolkit to decrypt the attachments.

EasyMAPI saves the encrypted attachment to a file always called ‘smime.p7m’.

This file contains the encrypted attachment. We tried the sample BlackBox S/MIME programs to try and decrypt it, but the sample programs returned the message that the file wasn’t encrypted. The program has no problem with our pfx format key.

The smime.p7m file appears to have to header information when we look at it using a text editor – it appears to be just completely encrypted data.

Any clues or help would be greatly appreciated.

.p7m is PKCS7 message. You can process it using TElMessageDecryptor or TElMessageVerifier depending on whether the data is encrypted or signed. MIME classes of SecureBlackbox expect MIME-formatted messages, and not the parts of the message.

Many thanks for your swift and speedy response.

I used the sample code in the PKI directory and all worked perfectly.

Again, many thanks.
