I receive the error "extensions parsing error" executing "elZipWriter.Open(openArchiveDialog.FileName, false)" that is located in the method MainForm.openArchive().

This error occurs on a zip file that has a single file. The file contains a path with dot (e.g., ".") character in the path name. Example

cpu.statements\myfile.txt

The code works with a zip that does not contain a dot in the path name. Example
cpustatements\myfile.txt

The files are provided by clients and we have no control over this.

Is there a work around to this problem.

Many Thanks,
Mike

Hi. Unfortunately, we were unable to reproduce this issue with ordinary archive, everything works fine. If it is possible, please open a ticket in our helpdesk system and provide us your file to reproduce this issue. Otherwise please ask your client about the software he used to produce the archive. Also a good idea is to ask him to create archive with dummy folders/files with dots and see if error persists.

I have attached a zip file that reproduces the issue using the ZIPArchiver project provided with SecureBlackBox. We are using version 8.0.176.21351 of SecureBlackbox.zip assembly.

Please note that I named the uploaded file to "HFS_testfile.jpg" since the website would not permit me to upload a file named HFS_testfile.zip. Please rename to .ZIP.

Also, is there a way to examine a ZIP file to determine what version was used to produce the ZIP file?

Thanks,
Mike

Thank you for the file.

Forums are limited to image files (as attachments were designed to add images), right.

Version 8.0 is probably not the best thing to use in regards to ZIP: even version 8 had 8.2 as the last build, and you also have a license with version 9. So it makes sense to upgrade and see if the issue is still present. If there was a bug which has been fixed later, fixing it in the old version is not possible anyway.

Sincerely yours

Can you please test ZIP file provded and advise.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi. Just checked this file - it actually contains invalid extension 0xFFFE with invalid size (0xFFFE), even zipinfo tool tells this.
Which software was used to generate this file?

This file is provided by a client. I trying to get in touch with their tech and determine what software is used to generate the zip file.
What "zipinfo" tool are you referring to?

Thanks,
Mike

It is utility from Info ZIP, which shows advanced information about zip archive.
It is available on *nix platforms or can be downloaded separately for Windows (also, as far as I remember unzip should have command-line key to work like zipinfo).

Here is the URL: http://www.info-zip.org/mans/zipinfo.html

I'll check out this utility but WinZip 9.0 has no problem unzipping the file.

I am having problems with the client. Can you please provide an explanation as to why the attached zip can be unzipped using Win Zip 9.0 but EldoS reports an "Extensions Parsing Error".

Thanks,
Mike
