Hi,
signing a file (pc XP SP3) with sha256 algorithm i got this error:
Signing failed: win32 error -2146893816

I have selected the signing certificate from the store (TElWinCertStorage).

Someone can help me to resolve the problem?

Thanks

You probably have non-exportable private key. In this situation we have no choice but to ask the OS perform the cryptographic operation. And XP doesn't support SHA256 as a hash algorithm. The solution is to either use SHA1 on that system, or make the key exportable.

Many thanks for youn reply.

But I know that for Windows XP SP3 there is an hotfix:

Do you think that it can resolve the problem?

Best regards.

From the first glance the problem solved by the hotfix is very different from the one you have. But you can try, it should not hurt.
