(Using: .NET version 7.2 Professional edition)

Hi,

When compressing a directory, e.g.

elZipWriter.Add(someDirectory)

The resulting archive does not encode French accented characters correctly -- e.g. the "é" character becomes garbage. Note: this happens on files contained in the specified directory, or the directory itself.

Although I can still extract the file on my Windows machine, the original file name no longer matches what it was. More importantly, our backend system (Linux/Java) fails on extraction for those particular files.

I'm not sure if there's a way to specify character encoding? I was unsuccessful in experimenting with the following:

- ElZipWriter.UseUTF8Filenames (this property seems to no longer exist)
- SBZipUtils.Unit.ZIP_GENERAL_FLAG_UTF8_FILENAMES (I'm unsure where to specify this)

Any suggestions?

thank you

Hi. Please try to update to the latest version, there were fixes regarding non-ascii characters in file names.

Ah ok.

Is a 7.2 license allowed to update to the latest (Version 8.2.195)? Or is there an update for the 7.x code base?

If you have a license, please assign the license ticket to your user account before we continue. The ticket itself and the procedure of it's use are specified in the registration e-mail that was sent to you upon license purchase.

Sincerely yours

Please assign license ticket to your account to let us see details about your license. This update didn't get into 7.x codebase (actually, older code is updated only if any critial issues are found).

Fair enough.

Our person in charge of licenses is gone for the day. Tomorrow then.

thanks,
Denis

Ok, I've updated my account with the license ticket.

My version is 7.2.170. The available downloads for this license only shows 7.2.171 is available, but doesn't seem like it would address the issue I'm experiencing. How should we proceed?

cheers,
Denis
