On some machine we regularly seem to have an Exception when downloading that says "Failed to open local file" in the logs. The users reported like 9 out of 10 it fails for a file and then the download just works.

local file sounds like the SimpleSFTP client can't open the target file on the local disk for writing but serverside things should be fine right?

SBB 8.1 should be used there.

Thank you for contacting us.

We can give you more detailed answer if you will provide a Secureblackbox exception error code, but on the first point of view it is not a serverside error and client can't open the target file on the local disk for writing.

What you can do for diagnostics is replace DownloadFile method with DownloadStream method and allocate the local file stream yourself. This way you would have fine-grain control over how exactly the file is opened/created and why creation fails (as you can play with different access flags etc).

Sincerely yours
