Hi,

I am trying to connect to a remote site using your SSH Client Demo application. I have generated a private and public key pair using CoreFTP and passed the public key to the admistrators at the remote site. I am using the private key that was generated in the "Private Key for PUBLICKEY authentication" field and I have entered the password.

I have SSHv2 selected.

Stepping into the code, I am getting an error at the following line:

Key.LoadPrivateKey Edit6.Text, edtKeyPassword.Text

This is dropping me into the LoadFailed branch of the code, which will eventually end up at Client_OnError (which throws Error 114) while attempting to execute the Client.Open line.

If I attempt to connect ussing SSHv1, I get Error Code #2.

I have no issues connecting to the remote site using CoreFTP and the same logon credentials/key password.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Jerry

Looks like format of the key generated by your software is not recognized. Can you please create some keypair and post it here as an attachment?

Sincerely yours

Hi. It looks like CoreFTP uses non-standard private key format. Can you post sample private key here?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have attached a sample private key to this message (I made the extension txt so that I could ipload the file).

While I was waiting for your reply, I swapped new keys with the remote site. I generated the new keys with Putty. I can get past the line mentioned above, but when it reaches Client.Open, the following error is thrown:

Authentication attempt failed, AuthType= 2
Error: 114
Error: Connection lost (error code is 10058)
If you have ensured that all connection parameters are correct and you still can't connect,
please contact EldoS support as described on http://www.eldos.com/sbbdev/support.php
Remember to provide details about the error that happened.

Are you able to connect using Putty with your new keys and without any other authentication method (i.e. password etc)?

Sincerely yours
Eugene Mayevski

No, I was unable to get Putty to connect, but this is the first time I'm using it and I could be doing something wrong.

A follow-up: Couldn't get Putty to work, but was able to connect with CoreFTP using the Putty generated keys. I'll try to use them in SecureBlackBox now.
