We have a VB6 application that utilizes SecureBlackBox's (Version 6) FTP and encryption/decryption functionalities. We need to transfer a 2 Gb (or larger) file via FTP but the ActiveX edition does not allow this.

My question is, if we purchase the .NET edition (we tested this and was able to upload the large files), and use this in a COM callable .NET assembly, expose some of the FTP functions (upload/download) and reference this assembly in our existing VB6 application, will it still work without any limitations?

We do not have plans yet to upgrade our existing VB6 application to .NET so we are just considering this workaround as a short term solution.

Thank you for contacting us.

I assume that this solution will work. The limitations of ActiveX edition are caused by some internal specifics of ActiveX implementation in Delphi (as ActiveX edition DLL's are built from the Delphi source code). The components included to .NET edition are completely CLR-compliant and do not have any relation to the components of ActiveX edition.
