I'm using SecureBlackBox OpenPGP, ActiveX version, build 7.2.0.169.

I now have to compress/encrypt large files. The encryption never complete with files larger than 2GB. I tried with and without compression.

Is there a file size limit?

Thank you

Thank you for contacting us.

Yes, the components included to ActiveX edition only work with files up to 2Gb (this is caused by certain technology limitations). We plan to remove this size limit in SBB 8 (which you have free upgrade for).

Hi,

I saw that SSB 8 has been released, but I didn't read anything in the change log about PGP.

Were you able to remove the size limit? Is there any change in SSB 8 for PGP?

Thank you.

File size limitation issue in ActiveX edition has not been resolved yet. As a matter of fact, we are working on the issue at the moment and plan to make the updated components available in the future build update (in about a fortnight).

Build 8.0.176, which resolves file size limitation issue, is available on the download page.

Is there an encryption size limit? We have the latest version of blackbox (version 10) but are unable to successfully decrypt a 6 GB file that was encrypted with BlackBox.

Thanks

Version 10 should not have any limitations of file sizes, except ones added by filesystem, underlying classes (TFileStream) or memory sizes (if temporary streams are stored in memory, which is by default if you don't handle OnTemporaryStreamNeeded). Please clarify which code you use to handle that 6Gb file (and did you try the PGPFilesDemo), and what error do you receive.

Thank for the reply

here is our code
MemoryStream publicKeyStream = new MemoryStream(ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(encryptionKey));

TElPGPPublicKey pgpPublicKey = new TElPGPPublicKey();

pgpPublicKey.LoadFromStream(publicKeyStream);

TElPGPKeyring pgpKeyring = new TElPGPKeyring();

pgpKeyring.AddPublicKey(pgpPublicKey);

TElPGPWriter pgpWriter = new TElPGPWriter();

pgpWriter.EncryptingKeys = pgpKeyring;

pgpWriter.Armor = true;

pgpWriter.ArmorHeaders.Clear();

pgpWriter.ArmorHeaders.Add("Version: EldoS OpenPGPBlackbox");

pgpWriter.ArmorBoundary = "PGP MESSAGE";

pgpWriter.UseNewFeatures = false;

pgpWriter.UseOldPackets = true;

pgpWriter.EncryptionType = SBPGP.TSBPGPEncryptionType.etPublicKey;

pgpWriter.Timestamp = DateTime.Now;

pgpWriter.Filename = sourceFileName;

pgpWriter.Compress = true;

pgpWriter.CompressionAlgorithm = CompressionAlgorithm;

pgpWriter.CompressionLevel = CompressionLevel;

pgpWriter.OnTemporaryStream += (object sender, ref Stream stream, ref bool finish) =>

{

stream = new FileStream(FileHelper.CreateUniqueFileName(tempFilePath), FileMode.OpenOrCreate);

finish = true;

};

pgpWriter.EncryptFile(sourceFileName, destinationFileName);

The errors below is what I get using GPG to decrypt
gpg: [don't know]: invalid packet (ctb=57)
gpg: [don't know]: invalid packet (ctb=58)
gpg: WARNING: message was not integrity protected
gpg: [don't know]: invalid packet (ctb=59)

Can you decrypt that file with our library? Did you try PGPFilesDemo for encryption? And, does this error is thrown with any file or with files of certain size?

What is PGPFilesDemo? I don't see a download for that.
We can successfully decrypt files up to 3.2 GB.

We cant decrypt using the library because we send this file to a client who does not use this software and it needs to be tested outside of SecureBlackbox.

Thanks
