I wanted to know why I get the extra "\??\ when the rename callback is returned with the new file name.

For Exaample it is: \??\C:\<New file name path>, the old file name is correctly C:\...

What a product are you asking about? CallbackDisk doesn't have the rename callback.

This prefix (\??) is a synonym for "\DosDevices" directory in the object manager name space. In Windows XP and later each session has its own drive letter map. This prefix means that drive letter name will be resolved to the global MS-DOS device name, visible for all sessions.
Search for the "Local and Global MS-DOS Device Names" in MSDN for more details.
