Hello,

First time install of Eldos requires a restart but our users would like to avoid it and still work with our product - can we provide a workaround ?

1) You can't install Eldos, it's a company.

2) No, this is not possible. If the Install() function tells you that reboot is required, then it's required. The driver itself normally (during fresh install) doens't need reboot, but helper DLLs do (in order to restart Explorer and make it load helper DLLs). Also, reboot is needed during driver upgrade.

In order to minimize chance of reboot, would it be possible to
- exit explorer
- update the helpers dll
- restart explorer

Thx!

RebootNeeded parameter of Install() method is a bit mask which tells you which modules need a reboot. If only helper DLLs do, then yes, you can kill all instances of Explorer and restart it without restarting the system itself. If the driver requires reboot, this means that the old version of the driver is loaded (or in other way blocks installing of the new driver) and you must reboot the system.
