Is there a way to prevent a memory leak when using the custom icon?

I gracefully unmount and delete the virtual drive using:
deletemountingpoint, unmountmedia, and deletestorage
but still get the memory leak. If I disable the custom icon, this leak does not occur.
If I mount 2 drives, I get the same leak twice.

I am using C++.
