Regarding so-called WHQL certification

It's properly called "Hardware certification test".

Unfortunately Callback File System (also CallbackDisk and CallbackFilter) can not be certified due to technical reasons.

WHQL certification involves large number of tests conducted by automated software. This software performs operations, some of which are not supported and can not be supported by Callback File System due to "virtual" nature of the driver: data storage is performed neither by hardware nor by the driver, but by user-mode software. Another aspect is that the driver offers many operational modes for the virtual disk, and some of those modes are simply not supported by tests. There are other problems that can not be solved without severely modifying the driver and dropping most part of its functionality (which is obviously not what you or we would want to do).

Sincerely yours

If you need the WHQL certification to get you Desktop application certified for the Windows Store, you might want to try the following "workaround":

1) Make sure that your installer does not install CBFS if it is already installed
2) Install CBFS manually.
3) Run the Windows App Certification Kit.
4) Your application should pass the certification.
