We'd like to exclude Windows Search (SearchProtocolHost.exe etc.) from scanning our virtual CbFs drive.

We tried different StorageType/StorageCharacteristics but none seemed to make a difference.

Any idea how to do that?

Perhaps the process restriction feature will help. For details see the documentation about CallbackFileSystem.ProcessRestrictionsEnabled property.

Windows Search features are controlled somehow via GUI, and I assume there must be an API or registry setting for this either. You should look from that side. I don't think there's anything we can do from CBFS side.

OK, thanks, we'll look for an API call.
