hey,

i have following scenario:
1. old version of our software installed
2. uninstall this software
3. reboot
4. install new version
5. try to shutdown system

step 5 seems to lead to a deadlock and the system hangs saying "Shutting down.."
system is win7x64
cbfs: v.3.0.77 (in both versions of our software)
using .net

this is just a quick guess that the driver hangs, but i don't think that our managed code will hang the system that way. any ideas on how to narrow in on this issue? debugging the app while the system is shutting down is kind of hard..

doing this without installing/deinstalling the old version does not seem to cause that issue, as far as i observed.

thanks and regards

Please check the following cases:

1) install new version on the computer and shut down the system right after installation. I.e. only steps 4-5.
2) install new version after old version (steps 1-4 above) and instead of shutting down the system reboot it.

Sincerely yours

Hi

1) does work. no hang here.
2) hangs

i also found out that the system only hangs once if you restart the pc after directly installing the app after the uninstallation with reboot of the old version.
so if you do a second reboot the system want hang. also, and this is weird, if you restart the app(after installation) the system want hang..

Hello Bastian,

Unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce the problem. Have you reproduced it on different machines? Or only one computer has it?
Also try to use the latest version of CallbackFS. Does the problem exist there?
Thanks.

Hi,

no it seems independent of the machine, because our testers and i where able to reproduce the error on different machines.
I will try the new driver version today and will report the results.

hi,

ok now i tried the new version with no effekt, the system still hangs.
i also created a setup without the driver and this does not hang the system. this means that the issue is definitely driver related.
any further ideas how to solve this?

@vladimir zinin:
have you installed the driver with or without pnp-support? i just found out that the system does not hang when i install the driver with pnp-support. without it, it hangs. can you reproduce this?
