I was doing some file system benchmarking for file system, so I found very good tool "IOZONE" for doing this. You can check this on http:\\iozone.org

I installed IOZONE on C drive and execute Mapper application and run below command to check Z: file system benchmarking.

iozone -f Z:\temp.txt

Here -f is used to test file system benchmarking of Z:\ drive and temp.txt is temperory file which will gets deleted after calculating the benchmarkings.

It gives me an error "Permission denied".

So for again testing purpose I stopped Mapper application and execute VMounter application.
Here I used above listed command, so it gives me the result not any error.

Same case with VDisk application.

Can you please give some suggestions/ideas why it's not working in case of "Mapper" application?

Mapper reads and writes the data from the actual disk, and it's possible that the folder that you have mapped is not fully accessible (eg. some operation, that the benchmark tool is trying to perform, is not allowed).

I also tried to use benchmarking tool Iozone to benchmark our file system (server is a Linux-based machine, connection between server and client is made via TCP/IP).
I have installed Iozone directly to the virtual drive, and run it from there:

Z:\>IOZONE\iozone.exe -a

And I am receiving this result:
Run began: Fri Oct 19 01:22:42 2012

Auto Mode
Command line used: iozone -a
Output is in Kbytes/sec
Time Resolution = -0.000000 seconds.
Processor cache size set to 1024 Kbytes.
Processor cache line size set to 32 bytes.
File stride size set to 17 * record size.
random random bkwd record stride
KB reclen write rewrite read reread read write read rewrite read fwrite frewrite fread freread
64 4 2845 9686
Error reading block 1 7de00000
read: Permission denied

Then,I installed Iozone to E:\Test, and mounted a drive using Mapper sample, specifying base folder as E:\Test. After performing Z:\>iozone.exe -a I am getting the following result:
0 [main] iozone 15272 Z:\iozone.exe: *** fatal error - add_item ("у╜Ь?", "/", ...) failed, errno 22

I have traced file system activity with Process Monitor, and I noticed that in both cases iozone is failing after QueryNameInformationFile operation.

CBFS ver.:
Win 7 x64

I would appreciate any ideas about why it is happening like this.

I have uploaded log files to http://depositfiles.com/files/w1ylszkjy

Thank you

Good evening.

I was wondering about the status of the problem I have described in my previous message.

Thank you.

The message "fatal error - add_item ..." was generated by cyqwin. It cannot run Iozone from the root folder.
Please, use VDisk sample, create folder (eg. Z:\Test) and then run Iozone from this folder.
