Run Process Monitor from sysinternals.com, set there the filter to show only messages for your virtual storage (i.e. "Path"->"Begins with"->"X:"), and see what happens on the kernel level when security is changed for the file.

Also I think that maybe the OS re-reads security settings before setting them, so calling OnGetFileSecurity seems pretty logical.

After analyzing this further I found out that I was mistaken, the CbFsSetFileSecurity callback is triggered by clicking the Apply button after making a change on the Security Tab. This is exactly the behavior I was expecting and therefore I should be able to do what I want to do. I will keep you informed as to my progress, but for now I do not seem to need any more help with this, Thank you very much for all your help.
