Hi,

are there any known compatibility issues using CBFS on a Win7-Machine?
Has somebody made tests on that operating system?

We will officially support Windows 7 in CBFS 3.0, which is planned for summer. Support for Windows 7 in CBFS 2.5 will not be available.

Thanks for the quick response.

What is the difference between "officially support" and "support not available"? For me this leaves a big gray area going from "absolutly not working" to "minor limitations".

Are we allowed to freely upgrade from 2.5 to 3.0?

I need more information on this topic because our software will have to support this new OS.

Greetings

You should not rely on possibility to use 2.5 with Windows 7. Even if it works for you, you should keep in mind that we don't give any promises that it will. And if anything doesn't work as expected in CBFS 2.5 on Windows 7, we won't change version 2.5 to make it compatible with Windows 7. All such fixes will go to version 3.0.

The answer depends on whether you have a license. If you already have a license, please assign a license ticket to your user account as described in the registration e-mail. Note, that the license ticket is NOT a license key. And please don't post the key here (as some users manage to do) -- this is a public forum.

If you plan to purchase a license, then the answer is yes, if you purchase a license now or in future, you will get free update to version 3.0 when it's released.

Sincerely yours

Hi,

what about CBFS 3 ?

I have CBFS 2.5.55 and it doesn't work on Windows 7 (32 and 64). On some of my virtual folders listed from explorer I've got Access Voilation (C++ Builder 6). Call stack always looks like this one:

004446A8 Cbfsapi::CbFsResetTimeout
00440CF8 Cbfsapi::CbFsResetTimeout
00448BD4 Cbfsapi::CbFsResetTimeout
00448A72 Cbfsapi::CbFsResetTimeout
75E73677 C:\Windows\syswow64\kernel32.dll
778C9D72 ntdll.dll
778C9D45 ntdll.dll

When I list folders under command line (cmd.exe) it's OK.
I've tested my project on win xp and vista and it works fine.

Regards

Michal

We are working on it and it's expected to be done shorty.

We need a possibility to reproduce the AV. It would be the best if you added the code which causes the problem to any CallbackFS sample and gave it to us.

Due to certain delays with version 3 (we planned to have it ready by the time Windows 7 is released), we did the thorough testing of CBFS 2.5 (build 55) on Windows 7 and didn't find any problems with it. So the issue is probably specific to your scenario.

Also I don't recognize you as a registered customer. According to our support policy we deal with users' projects only when they are registered customers. If you purchased a license, please assign a license ticket to you user account as described in the registration e-mail. If you have questions regarding registrations, licensing etc., you can contact us privately via HelpDesk.
