Such situation occurs when the helper dll VSNetRdr.dll was not correctly installed or maybe an old version (older than 2.5) is installed. Perhaps let users who have the problem either reinstall the dll or check the installed dll version (after the installation it's located in <windows_root>\system32).
BTW: Do you check the result that InstallHelperDll returns (including the RebootNeeded parameter)?

OK, it could be a version mismatch on the DLL. We do check the result of InstallHelperDLL and advise the user accordingly (install succeeded, reboot needed).

Any chance this could be caused by an antivirus product?

The most possible reason is the dll version mismatch.
