We are using new cbfs driver Network mount point feature.

During our test we have seen that thumbnails were correctly rendered using cbfs network drive under windows XP, but not under windows Vista.

We double checked our Vista Thumbnail display option, but Thumbnail still not display.

Doing more tests we could see that Thumbnail worked well, when browsing our SMB network shared drives but not when using a cbfs network drive.

We also reproduce this problem by simply modifying mounter_VS2005 sample:
We replaced AddMountingPoint() by AddNetworkMountingPoint()
And DeleteMountingPoint() by DeleteMountingPointEx()

(NB : using AddMountingPoint() or AddMountingPointEx() make Thumbnail working well under Vista)

The unavailability of thumbnails under windows Vista when using network cbfs drive seems to be critical to our customer. Could you please provide us technical material, advice or your development plan in order to let us know if we should go back to a "removable media" device or not.

Sorry for the delay. I'm working on it and will give an answer today or tomorrow.

Unfortunately in the current version it's not possible to make thumbnails visible using network mounting points. We are still working on this feature.
The only way now is to use Windows shares instead. For details see: http://www.eldos.com/forum/read.php?F...essage5479

We successfully set up a network drive using hidden cbfs drive that we "windows shared" and loop-backed to a local windows network drive.

As expected, this technique enables thumbnails under Vista.

But we faced many unconvenient visible side effects:
Administrator right needed,
Visibility of our share point,
Windows vista user-level security problems,
Vista Explorer Erratic behavior at mount time (mixture between mount point, volume not accessible without restarting explorer, etc.)
And possibly many others we haven't encountered yet.

And unfortunately, that is why we decide that we can't reasonably use this technique.
