We want to do exactly the same thing that your sample code does above, namely create a virtual network share.

I don't see any documentation in the doc that I got from your Web site about the GbsCreateSymLink function. Also, I don't quite understand where your sample code gets called from?

This sample code simply shows how to programmatically assign a network drive letter to a CallbackFS storage. You should correct it and call after a CallbackFS storage is created (using CallbackFileSystem.CreateStorage) and mounted (CallbackFileSystem.MountMedia).

This is internal function. You should use CallbackFileSystem.AddMountingPointEx(LPCWSTR MountingPoint, BOOL LocalLink = FALSE) instead.

But you can wait some days and don't implement this feature. Because at present time we are trying to implement another workaround that will help to do the described above simpler. We will notify you about the result.

Thank you, Vladimir. I will wait a few days to hear about your efforts. Please let me know if and when you have the workaround.

Thats good news Valdimir, specially for Vista (in my opinion) because it really hammers the Filesystem with such requests and validations.

We are working on it now. When the feature is implemented I will inform us. I think through some days we will finish.

Vladimir, has there been any progress on the new feature implementation? Or any update?

You will be notified. There's no need to ask every week - this won't speed things up and will only annoy the developers.

Sincerely yours

i have the following up questions from the answers Vladimir posted eariler

Quote

Me

thank you for the information. I am still a little confused on what to do if a onReafFile is requested if i do not have the file downloaded ?

Block by returning an error code for onReafFile

Vladimir Zinin

No. Either synchronously read the destination file in the context of the thread that calls onReadFile or block it (for example by means of WaitForSingleObject(SomeEĀvent)) until another thread completes reading the destination file.
But you can also return an error code from onReadFile. In this case the same error will be returned to the originator of the request.

is there a Time limit for one or both options for example if the file takes 3 hours to download will that cause an error if its being blocked by WaitForSingleObject(SomeEĀvent) or slowinly being synchronously read in the thread context?

Create virtual disks backed by memory or custom location, expose disk images as disks and more.
