What's new in Callback File System 4.0

Version 4.0 includes the following new features:

  • Windows 8 and Windows 2012 Server are supported.
  • Case-sensitive filenames are now supported.
  • File and handle contexts have been separated. This lets you handle concurrent opening and closing of files with more flexibility.
  • Cache of non-existing files has been added. This cache lets you avoid extra calls to OnGetFileInfo callback if it's known that the file does not exist. The cache is enabled by default and can be disabled using DisableNonexistentFilesCache method.
  • Parallel execution of read requests to the same file is now possible. It can be enabled using ParallelProcessingAllowed property.
  • Initialize method has been added.
  • For better efficiency of write operations MaxReadWriteBlockSize property has been added. It helps you avoid timeouts when you have slow writing callbacks.
  • Install and Uninstall methods got PathToInstall/InstalledPath parameter which lets you specify where to install driver files and helper DLLs.
  • IconInstalled method has been added. It lets you check whether the icon is installed.
  • OnCleanupFile event has been added.
