EldoS | Feel safer!

Software components for data protection, secure storage and transfer

I get "The 'Virtual Storage Mount Notification' add-on from 'EldoS Corporation' is ready for use." message in Internet Explorer 9. What is that?

This is the helper module (CbFsMntNtf*.dll) which notifies Explorer when the virtual storage is mounted. The module is installed by various software which uses Callback File System.

While the module can not be uninstalled without uninstalling the software, it can be safely disabled in Internet Explorer.

If you don't like the module hanging in the list, you can remove it from Internet Explorer add-on list (starting with CBFS 3.2.106 the module is not listed there).

To remove the module from Internet Explorer add-on list you need to run regedit.exe and delete the following key:

>-------------- quote -----------------
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{5FF49FE8-B332-4CB9-B102-FB6951629E55}

On 64-bit versions of Windows the following key should be deleted as well:

>-------------- quote -----------------
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{5FF49FE8-B332-4CB9-B102-FB6951629E55}

Note for developers: you can remove those registry keys in code right after calling Install method () or at any time after installation. Or upgrade to version 3.2.106 or later of Callback File System (version 3.2.106 won't remove existing records though).
