Microsoft has published an article which reviews new cryptography and PKI features, added into Vista and Windows Server 2008. This includes several important things.
First of all, it's new algorithm support, which includes AES, SHA2 and, more importantly, elliptic curves (ECDH and ECDSA algorithms).
Next, OCSP client and server support has been added to Vista and Server 2008 respectively.
The above features are available via newly-introduced API, called CNG (Cryptography New Generation). An outstanding name, isn't it?
